02Conditions

What therapeutic massage helps with

Therapeutic massage is effective for a wide range of everyday conditions. It combines clinical technique with comfortable pressure, making it the most versatile treatment we offer.

Tension Headaches

Releasing the neck, shoulders, and jaw muscles that drive tension-type headaches. Regular sessions can significantly reduce frequency.

Stress and Anxiety

Full-body work activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering cortisol and promoting deep relaxation.

Sleep Disruption

Muscle relaxation and nervous system calming can improve sleep quality, especially for stress-related insomnia.

TMJ and Jaw Tension

Targeted work on the masseter, temporalis, and neck muscles that contribute to jaw clenching and grinding.

General Muscle Stiffness

Full-body treatment addressing accumulated tension from daily activities, commuting, desk work, or physical labour.

Post-Travel Recovery

Counteracting the effects of long flights, car rides, and disrupted routines on your muscles and circulation.

Common questions

What’s the difference between therapeutic and relaxation massage?

Relaxation massage uses light, flowing strokes primarily for stress relief. Therapeutic massage uses firmer, more targeted pressure to address specific tension areas and muscle issues while still being comfortable. You get therapeutic benefit, not just relaxation.

How often should I book therapeutic massage?

For general maintenance, every 2-4 weeks is ideal. If you’re dealing with higher stress levels or physical demands, bi-weekly sessions provide more consistent relief. Your therapist will recommend a schedule based on your needs.

What should I wear during a therapeutic massage?

You undress to your comfort level. Most clients undress to their underwear but you’re always properly draped with sheets throughout the session. Your therapist only uncovers the area being worked on. Communicate whatever makes you most comfortable.

Can therapeutic massage help with headaches?

Yes. Many headaches originate from tension in the neck, shoulders, and jaw. Therapeutic massage releases these muscles and improves circulation, which can significantly reduce headache frequency and intensity. Regular sessions are especially effective for tension-type headaches.

Is therapeutic massage covered by insurance?

Yes. Our therapists are CMTO-registered RMTs, so sessions are eligible for coverage under most extended health plans including Sun Life, Manulife, and Green Shield. Insurance receipts are provided after every session.
